echomaterico

About

echomaterico was founded in 2007 as a system of competences oriented towards an architecture driven by the symbiosis of people and nature. Its main vocation has been to stimulate and reactivate natural and artificial ecosystems, integrating design, analytical and manufacturing attitudes. It’s work has been recognized in different international competitions.

Berardo Matalucci

coordinator of the design procedures

responsible for architecture and landscape

berardo@echomaterico.net

Berardo holds a degree Architectural Engineer – Architecture with honors at the University of L’Aquila (Italy). He attended postgraduate researches at the Department of Architectural Design of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Berardo explored art, architecture and landscape’ interconnections at the “Accademia of Santa Giulia” in Brescia; he received a Master of Architecture from the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.

As co-founder of echomaterico, Berardo currently focuses his interest and professional activity in exploring new methodologies of design strategy integrating sustainability aspects with programmatic performances and landscape inhabitation.

Fabiano Spano

coordinator of the design procedures

responsible for architecture and urbanism

fabiano@echomaterico.net
Architecture degree (IUAV, Venice, 2005). Master Advanced architecture “Self Sufficienct habitat” (IAAC, Barcelona, 2007).

Fabiano is a young Italian architect researching on new design and urban planning strategies based on principles of environmental sustainability and energetic self sufficiency. He works as freelance architect and in collaboration with architecture studios in Lecce, Barcelona, Marseille. He is a cofounder of Echomaterico, a collaborative network for designing procedures and of H_lab composites technology s.a.s. , an atelier for design and fabrication of components with composites materials.

Enrico Crobu

responsible for techniques and technologies for sustainability

enrico@echomaterico.net

Building Engineer with major in Architecture
Degrees in Building Engineering from The University of Engineering of Cagliari, Italy, 2004.
Master in Architecture “Self-Sufficient Housing” from The Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalunya (IaaC), Barcelona, Spain, 2007.
Master Science in Renewable Energy and Architecture at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, 2009
In 2006 during his research as architecture master student he carried out a comprehensive study on self-sufficiency and low carbon design that shaped part of his background on social and energy aspects in the built environment. In that occasion he approached the assessment of the built environment with computer modelling techniques, analysing environmental and sustainable issues related with the development of modern Eco-buildings. He researched into sustainable development field including energy demands, green energy production and waste management.
His experience in built environment assessment improved in 2009 during the MSc course in UK at the University of Nottingham. He became more and more familiar with zero carbon design and software simulation packages like Ecotect, Radiance, RetScreen and DesignBuilder for simulating building thermal mass, energy consumption for heating and cooling, natural light levels into buildings, CO2 emissions calculations, CFD natural airflow simulation into buildings and in urban areas.
